The Kitchen Garden is an important part of our Sandy Primary School. Here’s the latest update from our Kitchen Garden Specialist, Laura Myers:
The Kitchen Garden Program will continue at our new Lansell Avenue school site in time, but rest assured when the new KG is established, I will be planting the winter vegetables and herbs so it will be humming along by the time the students return to school.
Our KG at Bamfield St has yielded plenty of tomatoes, zucchinis, chillies, passionfruit and olives. So much so, I’ve been able to fill 40 jars of:
Cherry tomato relish
Roma tomato spicy relish
Passionfruit jam
Zucchini relish
Preserved olives
Asian style chilli oil
Looking forward very much to using these preserves with the Year 3 & 4 students in the Kitchen Garden Program! Maybe a ploughman’s lunch with pumpkin scones or focaccia .
Sandringham Primary School is fortunate to have Mrs Laura Myers as our Kitchen Garden Specialist.
The Sandringham Community Bank (Bendigo Bank) is a generous sponsor of the Kitchen Garden at Sandringham Primary School, for which the school community is greatly appreciative.
