Sandringham Primary News

Join Us at Sandy Primary

We look forward to welcoming our Prep class of 2022 to Sandringham Primary School.

Next year will be a very special year for Sandy Primary, as we return home to Bamfield Street at the start of Term 1.  Our new state of the art learning facilities, combined with the rich 165 year history of this beloved bayside school, create a truly exciting opportunity for future families.

Email correspondence has been sent to our 2022 Prep families to advise dates and times for Transition Sessions.  These sessions will be held at our Sandy Primary Village, located at Lansell Avenue in Sandringham.

If you are looking for information about how to enrol, including documentation, please visit our Enrolments page or contact Sandringham Primary School on 9598 1488.

From Our Principal Mrs Louise Neave: Welcome to Sandringham Primary School

As one of Victoria’s oldest primary schools, Sandringham Primary has educated children since 1855 and is a beloved and respected part of the Bayside community.

With around 500 students and a dedicated and highly professional teaching team, I am pleased to introduce a school enriched by both our history and our school’s five values, which we strive to demonstrate every day:

Respect.  Resilience.  Relationships.  Responsibility.  Resourcefulness.

The values have been called upon more than ever by our school community, since fire destroyed more than half of the buildings at Sandringham Primary School in February, 2020.

We lost buildings, but the spirit of the Sandy Primary community – one that has always been legendary - has flourished.  And we continue to look forward.

In the months following, we have prioritised the continuation of teaching and learning every day.  We created our Sandy Primary Village – a temporary school home for 2020 and 2021 – on the land adjacent to Sandringham College on Lansell Avenue.  Our classrooms are well-resourced and set up with love by our amazing teachers. We provide continued excellence in student learning and wellbeing. Our outdoor play area provides plenty of play space within a secure environment, along with an adored fairy garden and many outdoor play resources for daily adventures!  There is also unprecedented opportunity for our students to enjoy the facilities of Sandringham College through collaboration across Performing Arts, Visual Arts, P.E. and science.

As our day to day learning thrives, we also watch with anticipation the efficient progress to rebuild our home at Bamfield Street, to which we will return in 2022.  The creation of a school that combines state of the art learning facilities with our school’s rich history is incredibly exciting, and I feel privileged to lead our school community in these integral times.

You will find more information about our school throughout the pages on this website.  If you would like more detail about enrolments or any aspect of Sandringham Primary School, you are welcome to contact our School Office on 9598 1488.
