Our Kitchen Garden Specialist Laura has recently been working with students to build wicking beds in the grounds of Sandringham Primary School.
What are wicking beds? They are a sustainable food production method that have a unique water delivery system that minimises wastage and produces great harvest results. Through this project our students have learnt the value of sustainable irrigation systems through the planning, preparation, building, planting and care of the wicking bed.
The wicking bed project is the result of a Landcare grant received by Sandringham Primary School in 2023 and they are a wonderful addition to our school.
